Governance
Pihanga Health operates on a not-for-profit basis and is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board provides stewardship and oversight so that the organisation remains focused on safe, sustainable and community-centred healthcare.
Role of the Board
The Board’s responsibilities include:
Protecting the organisation’s purpose and values
Setting strategic direction
Overseeing organisational performance
Monitoring financial sustainability
Supporting quality and patient safety
Overseeing major risks and legal obligations
Ensuring resources are used responsibly
Supporting strong relationships with the community and partner organisations
Management and clinical leadership
The Board provides governance rather than managing everyday appointments and services. Operational and clinical leaders are responsible for the day-to-day running of Pihanga Health, staff leadership, clinical quality and implementation of the organisation’s plans.
